While here we may not go as comprehensively as in some of our bespoke Windows Server 2022 training options, here’s an overview for now. Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Azure Edition Hotpatching since April 2023 went into public preview, and in Windows Server custom training learn how this and more can be done now in both Azure and even in a guest VM that’s supported in Azure Stack HCI version 22H2.

As of September 2022 you can get benefits from the 2022-09 Cumulative Update for Microsoft Windows Server OS version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5017381). This is where if you install the Cumulative Update, your build number for the OS would be 20348.1070 or a higher number. There’s support for the storage replica compression for data transfer. This update could include Storage Replica compression for transferred data between certain servers and this is brand new functionality that can benefit you. It can significantly compress the replication data at the level of the source system. This data can be sent right over the network and then this data could be saved after decompression on the destination directly. Fewer network packets have to be transferred for the same amount of data in this compression scenario. This can empower you to have increased throughput as well as lower overall data utilization on your network. This may also lower the time of synchronization to save it for emergency scenarios like disaster recovery or when it’s otherwise most needed.
