The Business Applications Role has one (1) Fundamentals badge and seven (7) Associate badges - and you start with the Fundamentals badge first.

Microsoft Certified Fundamentals Badge

The Business Applications Fundamentals badge, which we also call the Dynamics 365 Fundamentals badge, can be achieved by passing only one exam: Exam MB-900: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals, so that you can become a Microsoft Certified Dynamics 365 Fundamentals.

People who earn the Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Fundamentals certification badge demonstrate foundational knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365; the Power Platform; cloud concepts; licensing, onboarding, and support; and deployment and release options.

When you become a Microsoft Certified Dynamics 365 Fundamentals that has earned this Business Applications Fundamentals badge, you prove to the world that you understand Microsoft Dynamics 365; the Power Platform; cloud concepts; licensing, onboarding, and support; and deployment and release options.

You also open up the paths to seven (7) potential Business Applications Associate badges when you earn this Business Applications Fundamentals badge


Four (4) of the seven Business Applications Associate badges are Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement (CRM) Associate Badges for the 4 main modules: Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Field Service

Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement or Dynamics 365 CRM is actually a combination of individual components taken together. Four (4) of the main Customer Engagement modules are certifiable through four (4) distinct Business Applications Associate badges. Prior to attempting any of these four Associate badges, it is strongly recommended for you to earn the Fundamentals badge (Exam MB-900) first. All 4 (four) of these badges require you to pass a specific base exam (Exam MB-200) before attempting the following module-specific badges which each require you to pass an exam unique to the module:

Note that Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement also includes additional modules as well in the actual software package. These four (4) modules above, are the 4 most common ones though, and are the four modules that correspond to four out of the seven total Business Applications Associate badges.

These four (4) Business Applications Associate badges all certify your skills and competency in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement or Dynamics 365 CRM. We strongly recommend you to try and pass Exam MB-900 (and earn the Dynamics 365 Fundamentals badge) first. All four of these Associate badges require Exam MB-200 Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Core - and then also require one additional unique exam for each of these 4 badges as described above and as illustrated below.

Three (3) of the seven Business Applications Associate badges are Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (AX) Associate Badges for the 3 functional areas: Financials, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Management

The following (3) Business Applications Associate badges all certify your skills and competency in Dynamics 365 Unified Operations, also known as Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations or Dynamics 365 AX. We strongly recommend you to earn the Fundamentals badge (Exam MB-900) first. All of these badges require a specific base exam (Exam MB-300 Dynamics 365 Unified Operations Core), and then you must pass one additional unique exam for each of these 3 badges.

Each of these 3 Business Applications Associate badges corresponds to a specific functional area of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

There is one Business Applications Associate badge for each of the following three (3) Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (AX) functional areas: there is one badge for Financials, one badge for Manufacturing, and one badge for Supply Chain Management.

Where we use the abbreviation "CRM" or "Dynamics CRM" above in relation to certifications.
We are using this term for those of you who may not know what Customer Engagement is, but may recognize the product by its previous name, "Dynamics CRM."
This is related to CRM or Customer Relationship Management, which is one of the primary business functions that CRM is an abbreviation for.
Dynamics CRM, however, is actually now known as Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement.
